XFL Already Has Sold More Tickets Than AAF Did All Season

By

As reported by Darren Rovell of the Action Network, it’s week one and Vince McMahon’s football startup has already outperformed the AAF in ticket sales. With looming questions about whether a spring football league is viable, this is a great sign at the league’s kickoff.

The AAF enticed viewers but had issues with accessibility and ultimately succumbed to financial trouble, folding partway through their first season. They proved that football fans were eager to watch more, but the AAF struggled to put their product on the field. The XFL however, is off to a strong start.

Yesterday’s games both had roughly 17,000 fans show up, and teams are already opening up more sections in their home stadiums. Last week, the Seattle Dragons said they were expecting 20,000 fans at home games, and interest is only growing. With celebrities and pro athletes tweeting their support as well, momentum really seems to be picking up here.
