Wroclaw, Poland to Host IFAF Europe Champions League Final Four
Wroclaw, Poland will host the IFAF Europe Champions League 2016 Final Four tournament and organizers expect an outstanding event which is anticipated to draw capacity crowds.
Mr. Nikolaus Jellinek, IFAF Europe Competition Committee Chairman.
“The IFAF Europe Competition Committee decided to give the hosting rights to the Panthers and the city of Wroclaw, since their offer was the best for participants and fans. We are certain that we will have a great weekend of football, as Poland has been known for organizing outstanding events in the past.”
The IFAF Europe Champions League 2016 Final Four is scheduled for July 22-24, with two matches on Friday, July 22 and the championship game on Sunday the 24th.
Three of the four teams who advanced to the Final Four – the Wroclaw Panthers (Poland), Koc Rams (Turkey) and Danube Dragons (Austria) – were newcomers to the event while Italy’s Milano Seamen competed once before.
The Rams have been the surprise of the tournament as they knocked off the defending champion Carlstad Crusaders from Sweden, eking out a 6-0 victory in Karlstad, Sweden.
Jakub Glogowski, Wroclaw Panthers General Manager is very excited about the task ahead of the team:
“Starting the season our plan was to win at least one game. Winning the group and then being granted the hosting rights is a coronation of why we are building this club. Wroclaw deserves to have a European quality program and we want to show that Poland is starting to be an important point for American football. We will do our best to make this tournament a memorable one.”
