Will the New England Patriots be up next in Germany?
The concept of promoting the sport of American football within Europe has long been tried and tested and the increasing number of fixtures taking place on the continent is having a huge impact on the global growth of the sport.
London has long promoted and hosted regular NFL season games, with every franchise in the NFL now having taken the plunge and played at legendary English stadia such as Wembley, Twickenham and the Olympic Stadium.
Moving forward is all about evolution and the growing mainland Europe market is clearly one that the NFL wishes to exploit, with the sport becoming more accessible than ever to watch and follow from afar.
Munich hosted the first NFL game in Germany in 2022, as the Seattle Seahawks went down to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in front of a sell-out crowd at the Allianz Arena.
Whilst the game itself was by no means a classic, the following and passion displayed by the fans in Germany was noted by many within the game and plans are already afoot to kick start a more meaningful collaboration.
Market research in fields such as this are always key and within Germany, it would appear that the New England Patriots are one of the most popular teams – as they are in many countries and states around the world.
Plans are already in the offing to secure the services of the Pats in Germany in 2023 or 2024, with both Munich and Frankfurt being mooted as potential host cities.
For the Patriots, matters on the field remain more pressing currently as they try to claw their way into contention in the AFC East.
With 10 games played, a 60% win rate is below par for a side of their caliber but they still have their destiny in their own hands and how they would love to force their way into playoff and even Super Bowl contention.
The Pats are in the midst of a 3 match winning streak and they do always tend to time their runs well and a Super Bowl title is certainly not beyond their talented roster this term.
At +4500 with betting apps offers in New Jersey, the New England Patriots clearly aren’t one of the front runners for Super Bowl glory this season but they are capable of getting on a roll and they can be tough to stop with their tails up.
Kansas City Chiefs could be a very tough side to stop at +550, having lost just two of their opening fixtures this season and their popularity in Germany is also growing.
Elsewhere, the likes of the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers have enjoyed strong starts to the season and they look to have Super Bowl aspirations of their own.
At +700 and +1000 respectively, the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers could well be in the mix for Super Bowl honors come February 2023.
