Vienna Vikings extend Gerner and Holub through 2026

The Vienna Vikings have extended 24-year old defensive back Leo Gerner for the next two seasons, ensuring one of their talented defensive backs will return to the field in purple. The young defensive back has been a part of the Vikings organization since 2020, helping the team win the ELF title in 2022. Last season he made 28 tackles while breaking up 6 passes and snagging one interception.

“Cohesion and brotherhood”

“I am incredibly excited to be part of the Vienna Vikings for the next two years. There is a reason why I can call this organization my home. The cohesion and brotherhood of the team – especially in the defensive backfield, has always been a big part of my motivation to play here. Therefore, the decision to extend with the Vikings was easy and I am excited to see what the future holds. I can’t wait to build on last season’s success and support the Vikings in every way I can as we chase a second title. I am convinced that the coming season will be entertaining for all the fans who cheer us on in the stadium and in front of their screens”, says Leo Gerner.
