Video: Rating the Milano Seamen class of 2024 imports
The Milano Seamen came under a lot of fire for letting go of practically all of their offensive line, the quarterback that led them to multiple Italian championships and having the worst defense in the history of the European League of Football.
Under new head coach Jim Ward, it was obvious that Milano was going to undergo a huge overhaul where nothing could be overlooked. The results are of their 10 import players are in. Let’s see how they did.
The American positions have already gone against the norm of the ELF. Quarterback is no surprise and is the most obvious position to sign an American, but running back leaves some questions. Behind center, we have Zach Bronkhorst, formerly of Angelo State University. A solid player with mobility and throw-on-the-run capability. There are doubts about the ability to stretch the field so there will be a big change in the offensive identity of the team.
Patrick Carr will join him in the backfield. The former Ottawa Redblack and University of Houston Cougar running back is returning to football after a period away from football.
On the defensive side of the ball, Zach Blair travels to Milano from Cologne and will have a lot of run support for a linebacker core that lacked it in 2023. Marquise Manning returns for a second season; he was one of the more underrated corners in the league when he was healthy. Milano will need him to stay healthy if they want to build the defensive back around him.
As for the European import spots, there aren’t many to go through. Maxime De Falcis, the French safety returns to the ELF after a season in France. He will have a big impact on special teams and improves the run and passing defenses. Former Dresden speedster, Tommy Wilson also makes his long-awaited debut in the ELF. He is one of the most exciting prospects and has CFL aspirations. Milano will be wanting to keep him as long as possible.
And that’s all! The rest are made up of Brazilian athletes. Leandro Foncesa, Lucas Soares Da Silva, and Murilo Machado Silva make up the reinforcements in the offensive line while Gabriel Montagner will line up as a defensive tackle and could be in line for an all-star selection.
