The CFL’s The Grind featuring Brodie Lawson pays visits anywhere Canadian Football League players takes her. This time it’s Berlin, Germany as Saskatchewan Roughriders wide receiver Max Zimmermann, a native of Berlin, gets prepared for training camp.
Zimmermann was one of 18 European players who attended the CFL Combine in late March and was drafted sixth overall by the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the European Draft on April 11. He had been playing for the Potsdam Royals in the German Football League and in 2018 caught 33 passes for 644 yards and nine touchdowns. He was also one of the team’s leading punt and kick returners.
Now he is battling for a roster spot with the Roughriders.
Before he left for Canada and training camp, Lawson and The Grind crew paid him a visit to see how he gets ready for the biggest and most unusual football experience of his life.
