The 2022 USFL Draft is set for February 22 and the league has announced the results of the lottery held to determine the order of its upcoming player draft.
Coaches will look to use the player draft to form not only their teams but the overall football product of the league.
The Michigan Panthers coached by longtime NFL head coach Jeff Fisher took home the coveted first overall pick. The former Titans and Rams coach will set the tone for the league and its first draft in 37 years.

Todd Haley’s Tampa Bay Bandits will take second followed by the Philadelphia Stars. The New Orleans Breakers coached by Larry Fedora will have the last pick in the first round. However, the Breakers will start the second round off with the top pick and it will be the Panthers waiting until pick 16 to choose again as the USFL Draft will follow a snake format.

Besides the order of the USFL Draft the league also revealed its uniforms yesterday. The Houston Gamblers, New Jersey Generals, Tampa Bay Bandits, and Pittsburgh Maulers all wore a remixed version of their 1980’s uniforms, further leaning into the league’s brief but notable run nearly forty years ago.

Fans are cautiously optimistic as the USFL becomes the latest spring football league to enter the pro football scene. The league’s first draft should give an indicator of what type of talent we could see on the field come April. Several notable quarterbacks, running backs, defensive lineman, and linebackers have entered the draft pool and are hoping to be selected on February 22nd.
