UFL suspends Michigan Panthers WR Samson Nacua one game after slapping fan

The United Football League has suspended Michigan Panthers wide receiver Samson Nacua for one game without pay, the league’s executive vice president of football operations Daryl Johnston announced Tuesday.

Nacua’s suspension comes after he was involved in an altercation with a fan following Michigan’s 32-27 Week 5 loss to the St. Louis Battlehawks on Saturday, April 26. The incident began as a shouting match but ended with Nacua slapping the fan across the face before walking away.

Nacua’s suspension will take place in Week 6, ahead of the 3-2 Panthers’ matchup with the league-leading, 4-1 DC Defenders. He will also “participate in community service events to be arranged by the league,” as the UFL announced in a statement.

Nacua is a three-year spring football veteran who is in his second year with the Panthers after spending the 2023 campaign with the now-defunct Pittsburgh Maulers. He ranks third on the Panthers in catches (7), receiving yards (116) and is one of six Michigan players to catch a touchdown this season.

The 27-year-old receiver is the older brother of Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua and plays alongside his brother Kai Nacua with the Panthers.
