The St. Louis Battlehawks have re-signed quarterback AJ McCarron for the 2024 United Football League season.
The Battlehawks are one of the four surviving XFL teams that will form the new UFL together with four former USFL teams.
The 6’3″, 220 pound, 33 year old native of Mobile, Alabama started nine games for the Battlehawks in 2023, throwing an XFL-record 24 touchdown passes while leading the league with a completion rate of 68.8%. At the end of the XFL season, he signed with the Cincinnati Bengals and spent the final six weeks of the season on their active roster following a season-ending wrist injury to starter Joe Burrow.
The Battlehawks and three other XFL teams will join four former USFL teams on Feb. 26 for a joint training camp in Arlington, Texas. The UFL’s 10-week season opens March 30.
