[tps_title]All Star Fredrik Isaksson Moves To Key Rival in Sweden[/tps_title]
The Tyresö Royal Crowns have announced the signing of Fredrik Isaksson, one of the best receivers in Sweden. Since entering Sweden’s top division with the Carlstad Crusaders five years ago, the 6’5″, 215 lb Isaksson has been a bane for defensive secondaries both in Sweden and in Europe and helped the Crusaders to win four of their five straight Swedish crowns..
As a part of Carlstad’s championship offensive machine, the lanky wideout has given defensive coordinators fits scheming to find a way to beat him. And due to his outstanding play on Sweden’s national team, he had attracted attention from other European teams as well. He decided to remain in Sweden though.
But the move was not one of dissatisfaction on Isaksson’s part.
“My personal situation changed over the past few months so we decided to move to Stockholm. Tyresö is the top team in this area so signing with them was not so unusual.
It feels strange and a little sad to be leaving such a great organization as Carlstad’s and all my teammates there. They have been instrumental in my development as a player and person. But I look forward to the move and want to do all I can to help the Royal Crowns win a championship.”
Anders Ehrenreich, head coach of the Royal Crowns:
“It is highly unusual for top flight players to change teams in Sweden. Fredrik may be the best player in Sweden at his position and makes our great receiving corp even better. His skills, leadership, experience and winning attitude will truly be a huge addition to our team. I coached him on the junior national team and even then he was a first class player with a game-winning attitude.”
Although he has been a key to Carlstad’s offense, last season was frustrating as he was saddled with injuries and only managed to play in five games. He is healthy now and with new quarterback Colby Kirkegaard from Wyoming, he will be a key component in the Tyresö offense.
Christofer Fredlund is Tyresö’s offensive coordinator:
“We already had a strong offensive unit, but adding an all star class receiver to the mix is great news. Fredrik will offer the team a great deal both on the field and off. His will to win will rub off and I know that the Isaksson-Kirkegaard combination will give Swedish defenses fits this season.”
His new teammates are very aware of the qualities Isaksson brings to the Royal Crowns. Carl Kamm, national team teammate and one of Tyresö’s corp of receivers was happy about the new addition:
“ As a group, the receiving corp are extrememly excited to get a player of Fredrik’s caliber. Now, Swedish defensive coordinators and defensive backs will be having a tough time trying to figure out how to play against us.”
