Top American football referee Bill LeMonnier was in Brazil a few weeks back as the main speaker at a referee clinic in São Paulo.
In a interview with Brazilian American football outlet Salão Oval after the São Paulo State championship between the Corinthian Steamrollers and São Paulo Storm, LeMonnier has much to say about the growth of American football in Brazil.
He also states that Brazil’s national team will be one to look out for at next month IFAF World Championships in Canton, Ohio.
The career of football official Bill LeMonnier has spanned over 20 years, most in the service to the NCAA’s Big Ten officiating program. During his career, LeMonnier has put together an impressive list of accomplishments and has become one of the most respected and recognizable football officials in America.
In 2011, LeMonnier was selected as the referee for the inaugural Big Ten Football Championship Game, and was also honored by the National Football Foundation with the organization’s Outstanding Contributions to Amateur Football Award. He has worked 15 postseason bowl games, including the 2010 BCS National Championship Game.
