Top 7 NFL Players Who Are Retiring in 2024

Every era comes to an end, and even the most legendary players have to step down. Fans have seen quite a few retirements this year, becoming icons of irreplaceable talents. Learn more about the stars leaving the field in 2024.

The betting options and NFL predictions are already changing, as many players retired at the beginning of this year. Indeed, the list is long, and it includes over 30 names. Here are seven names that will be most surely missed.

Aaron Donald

Aaron Donald is a legendary defender who played for only one team in his NFL career: the Rams in St. Louis and Los Angeles. The defender was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year three times and was one of the main names behind the Rams’ title at Super Bowl LVI. He became famous for his tackling technique and impressive speed. Aaron Donald’s retirement was announced in March.

Jason Kelce

Jason Kelce also announced his retirement in March 2024. He was among the main offensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles. Kelce’s career in the league started in 2011 when he was drafted in the sixth round. He was also the team’s frontline when the Eagles won Super Bowl LII. Kelce also has a podcast, and he’s often invited for ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown

Fletcher Cox

It’s a tough year for the Eagles, which lost another star: the defensive legend Fletcher Cox. He won four All-Pro honors and six Pro Bowl selections, plus the Super Bowl LII. He was drafted in 2012 and spent all 12 seasons at the Eagles, just like Kelce. Cox’s achievements also include 16 forced fumbles and 70 sacks.

Darren Waller

Darren Waller played for some of the league’s strongest teams, the Baltimore Ravens and the Raiders (both in Oakland and Las Vegas), before closing his career with the New York Giants. During his eight-season career, Waller overcame a series of injuries and substance abuse to become one of the top NFL athletes ever, with 20 touchdowns, 4,124 yards, and 350 receptions.

Chris Harris Jr.

Chris Harris’ retirement announcement came out last April after 12 seasons playing for the Denver Broncos. The cornerback was undrafted from the Kansas Jayhawks to become one of the players listed on the NFL’s 2010 All-Decade Team. Harris’s accomplishments include three All-Pro honors, four Pro Bowl selections, and the Super Bowl L title.

Matt Ryan

Matty Ice built a long-lasting career in the NFL, having played 15 seasons until his retirement. Matt was first drafted by the Atlanta Falcons, but he also played for the Indianapolis Colts. Apart from multiple touchdowns and yards, Matty Ice also won the MVP in 2016. Now Matt Ryan’s talent and know-how have been drafted by the CBS, where he’s a football analyst.

Malcolm Butler

Malcolm Butler, one of the best cornerbacks ever, played seven seasons in the elite league. He contributed his talent to the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans, writing his name in the history of both teams for his outstanding clutch performances. His star-studded career includes two Super Bowl rings and 17 interceptions, most noticeable during Super Bowl XLIX.
