Former NFL/CFL/European player, coach Tony Simmons to coach Trinity Bible College
Former NFL and CFL receiver and veteran European coach and player Tony TD Simmons has signed on as an assistant coach at Trinity Bible College (NCCAA) in North Dakota under head coach Eric Slivoskey, who is also a veteran of European and international football.
Simmons background in football is impeccable.
Sparkling college career at Wisconsin
He played for the Wisconsin Badgers from 1993 to 1998 and graduated with a B.S. in Construction Administration. He was a multi-sport athlete playing football and running track & field. With the Badgers he helped win a Rose Bowl and other bowl games. He owned the TD record at 23 hence the name Touchdown Tony. Since leaving, the record has been broken. He was also a Big Ten Champion in the 100 m and 200 m and 3-time Triple Crown Team Champions 1995 – 1997 which included cross country, indoor and outdoor track.
NFL/CFL playing career
He is a former NFL, NFLE, CFL and Arena Football player. He played in the NFL for the Patriots, Browns, Colts, Texans and Giants. Also, during his five-year career in the NFL he played for the Barcelona Dragons in NFL Europe. After the NFL, he had a short stint with the Indiana Firebirds of the Arena Football League then ventured north of the border and found the love of the game again in the CFL. He played for the Edmonton Eskimos and BC Lions. As a BC Lion, he was a part of the 94th Grey Cup Championship team. During this time, he graduated with a M.S. in Project Management.
European playing/coaching career
Tony started his coaching career in Europe and he has played and coached over 18 teams stretching from the Warsaw Sharks (Poland), Bekescsaba Raptors (Hungary) and Triangle Razorbacks (Denmark) to the likes of the Elite Football League of India, the first professional American football league in India, where he coached with Slivoskey. He coached in Russia and the Russian National Football Team and throughout Europe and the USA, Canada along with teams in Mexico and South America. He coached at Bluefield College in Bluefield, Virginia as a multi hats coach, WR/TE, Video Coordinator, Asst. Strength Conditioning and even Equipment Manager.
Reality television star with American Grit
In April 2016 Simmons took on the challenge of all challenges when he joined the cast of American Grit. American Grit is an American reality television series filmed at the foothills of Mt. Rainier in Eatonville, Washington that premiered on Fox on April 14, 2016. The series stars WWE wrestler John Cena. Simmons came in 3rd overall, second team place on the show.
He is currently coaching in Switzerland with the Lausanne Owls.
He owns his own sports performance business, 6 Point Athletics.
