France’s Thonon Black Panthers Score Big; Sign French Defensive Lineman Mamadou Sy

The Thonon Black Panthers are serious about regaining the title in France in 2017.

They have signed one of the premier defensive linemen in the German League and Europe, Mamadou Sy, who spent the last two seasons playing for the top team in Europe, the Braunschweig New Yorker Lions.

The 6’3″, 290 lb defensive end has been an anchor in the Lions defense for the past two years helping them to back to back German titles and Eurobowl victories. In 2016 he recorded 48 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and nine sacks.

The 24 year old has starred on both the senior French national team and the U19 squad. A native of Paris, he played for the Berlin Adler in 2014 helping them win the Eurobowl title that year beating the New Yorker Lions in a thriller, 20-17. He moved to Braunschweig the following season.

The Black Panthers won the French title in 2013 and 2014, lost in the final in 2015 and finished out of the playoffs in 2016.
