The French Federation of American Football, FFFA, has announced the 45 man roster for the defending European champions, Team France, as they get set to face Serbia in the final and deciding game of the IFAF 2020 European Championship Group A qualification round.
The French national team will play host to Team Serbia this Saturday, November 9 in a game that will determine who advances to the final four. Italy, Sweden and Finland have already qualified to play for the European Championship title in 2020.
France, coached by Jean-Philippe Dinglor, plays in Division A along with the Czech Republic and Serbia.
France defeated Team Czech Republic in early October 28-3 while Team Serbia handed the Czechs a 16-0 loss two weeks ago. France won the 2018 IFAF European Championships after defeating Austria in the final.
Group A: 2019 – 2020
Group A is the top group of teams in the European Championships and is made up of 12 teams. In the first year, the teams have been split into four divisions of three teams each. The Divisions for 2019 are: A (France, Serbia,, Czech Republic), B ( Austria, Italy, Switzerland), C (Finland, Denmark, Netherlands) and D (Russia, Sweden, Great Britain).
Italy defeated both Austria and Switzerland to win Division B while Finland took both of their games in Division C, easily defeating Denmark and the Netherlands. Team Sweden earned comfortable wins over Russia and Team Great Britain to advance from Division D.
The winners of the divisions will meet in 2020 to decide the European champion.
