Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign Danish kicker Phillip Andersen from German Football League
Former kicker for the Berlin Rebels in the German Football League, Phillip Andersen, has become the first kicker signed by the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2019 season.
After showing off his skills at the Husted Kicking Pro Camp in Mobile, Alabama in January, Andersen was signed this past week. He most recently kicked for the Berlin Rebels where in two seasons he made 26 of 40 field goals and 100 of 109 PATS. He also averaged 62.5 yards on 164 kickoffs while punting the ball 85 times for a 42 yards per punt average. Prior to joining Berlin in 2017, Andersen played for the Amager Demons, Herlev Rebels and Søllerød Gold Diggers of the Danish American Football Federation, as well as the Berlin Adler of the GFL.
In 2014 while with the Adler, he helped the team win the Eurobowl and was a member of the Danish national team.
The Buccaneers signed Andersen as a placekicker after bringing him to Tampa for a workout of their own and he is currently the only player at that position who has a contract with the team for 2019.
Andersen is a Danish kicker who last played for the Berlin Rebels and has participated in Michael Husted's kicking camps at the Senior Bowl in recent years. https://t.co/QKoCYFy2lx
