Running back Talib Wise (Nevada) is returning to the fold re-signing with Austria’s Swarco Raiders and continuing his “partnership” with Swarco head coach Shuan Fatah.
“I was very happy about the call from coach Shuan Fatah,” said Wise, who will play running back, defensive back, wide receiver and kick returner. “We have worked together successfully for so many years. In addition, I have always felt very at home in Innsbruck. . To me making a comeback with the Swarco Raiders was a no brainer. “
Wise spent part of the 2014 season with the Berlin Adler after having an NFL regional camp tryout. Wise joins IFAF Champions League winning quarterback Sean Shelton (who was with the Helsinki Roosters for the tournament) and running back David Oku. Wise enters his fifth season with Coach Fatah.
After playing for the Dresden Monarchs in the German Football League in his first season in Europe, 2009, he switched to the Berlin Adler and Coach Fatah winning a Eurobowl championship with him. The following season he followed him to Swarco and played through the 2013 season there. Last year, due to the NFL regional combine opportunity he was not available in time so he ended up signing with the Adler again, playing nine games.
Shuan Fatah is extremely happy to get his tried and true running back:
“Talib is a real all-rounder. Offense, defense, special teams – he can play anything. I know his strengths and I know he will continue to help our team. “
Talib Wise will have more than his share of football to play this season. In addition to the Austrian season which includes playing 10 games provided they reach the Austrian final, the Swarco Raiders are playing four stand-alone games in the Battle4Tirol – the London Warriors, Basel Gladiators, Stuttgart Scorpions and Dusseldorf Panthers – will make up the opposition. Then they will play in the Big6 tournament where they could play three games in total if they reach the final. So there is a possibility that the Raiders could play an NFL-like 17 games during 2015.
“I am not worried about all the games,” said Wise. “In 2010 I played for Coach Fatah with the Berlin Adler and we ended up playing 23 games while winning the EuroBowl and playing in the German Bowl final.”
This coming from a player who almost never comes off the field during a game. Talib Wise has proven that he is a difference maker and the Raiders are counting on him helping them triumph in both the Austrian league and the Big6. The last time the Raiders won two titles in the same year was 2011 when Wise and Coach Fatah teamed up to win both the Austrian League crown and Eurobowl.
