The Basel Gladiators of Switzerland’s National League, have signed Fort Lewis quarterback Bo Coleman for the 2019 season.
The 6′, 192 lb native of Albuquerque, New Mexico was a two year starter for Fort Lewis College (NCAA Div. 2, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference). He finished his career with 2,577 yards passing and 24 touchdowns while rushing for 914 yards and another 14 touchdowns. In his junior season, he averaged 196.3 yards of total offense per game. In his two years starting for the Skyhawks, he led them to a 9-13 record overall.
A graduate of Valley High School in Albuquerque, he was a three sport athlete playing football, basketball and baseball.
The 22 year old Coleman is excited about the opportunity of playing overseas:
“I’m extremely excited to have the opportunity to play overseas and get the chance to travel to Switzerland to do so. I did have the chance in Spain and Austria but when I talked to coach Woods over the phone I knew he was the coach I wanted to play for. He seemed like a hard nose all about the business kind of coach I’ve been so used to out here in the US. Also when I did some research on the Basel Gladiators they looked like they had a great program going and I would love to be a part of it.”
The Basel Gladiators finished the 2018 season in the Swiss National A league with a 2-8 record. The 2014 Swiss champions are in a rebuilding phase after reaching the Swiss Bowl in 2017.
