Sweden’s Örebro Black Knights sign Sioux Falls QB Corbin Lawler
The Örebro Black Knights, perennial contenders for the Swedish American football crown, have signed quarterback Corbin Lawler for the 2017 season.
The 6’3″, 212 lb native of Tea, South Dakota played four years at the University of Sioux Falls in South Dakota.
The Black Knights reached the Swedish semifinals in 2016 falling to the Uppsala 86ers. Örebro played in Sweden’s championship game in 2015, 2014 and 2013.
The 22 year old will arrive in Sweden in March and is looking forward to getting to work.
“I am very optimistic about this season, I am looking forward to getting on the practice field, and seeing the style and tempo of play by my new teammates.”
After the evaluation and signing process Black Knights Head Coach Aaron Fiddler is looking forward to his quarterback arriving,
“I am very impressed with Corbin’s ability at the quarterback position, but what really sold him for me was what his college coaches had to say about him as a person, and what he contributes all around as a teammate.”
Lawler had his eyes on winning Sweden’s Super Series title, and will look to help the Black Knights be in position to raise the trophy.
“From my understanding I’m joining an already dangerous team that I hope to help be champions in July.”
