New rushing leader in Sweden with 4 games remaining
With four regular season games remaining in the six team Swedish Superserien, there is a new rushing leader as the Uppsala 86ers put on a show last week with the ground game leading the way. In fact, the stats leader lists are dominated by the top four teams, the Örebro Black Knights, Carlstad Crusaders, Stockholm Mean Machines and Uppsala 86ers.
Passing
Carlstad Crusaders QB Philip Juhlin still leads the league in Sweden after Carlstad blanked the Black Knights. Juhlin now has with 1,548 yards passing and 17 TDs. He finished as the passing leader in 2016 and 2015 as well. However, Anders Hermodsson of the Stockholm Mean Machines is not far behind with his 1,188 yards in six games. Hermodsson, who led Carlstad to four titles and who played in Italy in 2016, is the key to the Mean Machines an offense which has them in third place after six games. Orebro Black Knights quarterback Corbin Lawler slipped further behind the top two after a dismal night against Carlstad but he remains in third with 872 yards and 11 TDS. Limhamn Griffins’ Danish QB Crhristian Lisby has moved into fourth with 624 yards while Kiernan McDonagh of the Uppsala 86ers is fifth with 606 yards.
Receiving
Michael Sander of the Stockholm Mean Machines leads all receivers with 548 yards while averaging 18.3 yards a catch. Carlstad Crusaders Jacob Dahre movedpast teammate Marcus Johnson into second with 494 yards while Johnson now has 492 yards and five TDs. Austrialian Blake Marklew from the Uppsala 86ers sits fourth with his 397 yards while another member of the Stockholm Mean Machines receiving corps, Omar Fall, rounds out the top 5 with 312 yards.
Rushing
Uppsala 86ers speedy running back Victor St Pierre Laviolette has taken the lead among all the rushers in the league after a 177 yard performance last week and now has 483 yards rushing. Orebro Black Knights leading rusher, Kasper Wedberg has dropped into second with 406 yards while his teammate Marcus Hudritsch is third with 355 yards. The two Carlstad running backs, Victor Toresson and Christian Forsman have 300 and 248 yards respectively to round out the top five.
Tackles
Uppsala 86ers Joshua Akena continues to lead all defensive players with 33.5 tackles while Jalani Philips of the Limhamn Griffins moved up into second with 27.5. Robin Prevolnik of the 86ers has catapulted himself up into third after an outstanding game against the Royal Crowns and now has 25.5. Christian Kuylenstjerna of the Carlstad Crusaders is an anchor in the best defense in the league and now has 24.5 tackles which is good for fourth. Limhamn’s Edvin Henriksson is now fifth with his 24.5.
