The Örebro Black Knights have announced the signing of Branko Mutic as their new head coach for the 2025 Swedish Superserien season.
The 36 year old native of Belgrade, Serbia has spent the past two seasons serving as offensive line coach for the Black Knights as well as with the Swedish national team.
Mutic entered the coaching field after an illustrious 17 year career as a player. He started playing football as an offensive lineman in his native Serbia in 2005 for SBB Vukovi Belgrade. In 2011, he moved to Germany to play for the Saarland Hurricanes in the German Football League and then spent two seasons with the Osnabrück Tigers. In 2015, he signed with the Limhamn Griffins in the Swedish Superserien and remained there for three seasons. Injuries halted his playing career until 2020 when he moved to the Uppsala 86ers. He returned to Serbia and his home club, Vukovi Belgrade where he spent one season before retiring.
Throughout his playing career, he was an anchor of the Serbian national team where he finished as team captain. He played in a total of 12 games for Serbia in the European Championship tournaments starting in 2007 against Austria and finishing in 2021, also against Austria.
Mutic is definitely excited:
” My predecessor, Sam Eisenstadt, did great things with this team, and I am thankful for time spent on his staff to prepare me for this role. I am honored and very excited to take over as head coach for an organization like the Black Knights.
“Our goals are to compete like no team does in Sweden, be passionate about football and create an environment with great energy that everyone is proud to be part of. The expectation is to win championships and we are already building a strong foundation! Go Black Knights!”
