The Carlstad Crusaders have announced the signing of former European League of Football (Wroclaw Panthers, Berlin Thunder) quarterback Slade Jarman.
The 6’4″, 220 pound Jarman played seven games for the Berlin Thunder in 2023 replacing injured starter Donovan Isom, throwing for 2,017 yards and 21 touchdowns. He led the Thunder to the playoffs for the first time in their history. He had stepped in for the Wroclaw Panthers the year before in the same capacity throwing for 2,004 yards and 15 touchdowns in eight games.
Prior to joining the Panthers in 2022, the native of Pensacola, Florida played for the Shoulda Been Stars in the Fan-Controlled-Football League, an indoor 7-on-7 league where the fans call the plays. The left-handed passer threw for 603 yards, nine touchdowns, and only two interceptions, completing 56% of his passes. He also had several sneaky athletic receiving and rushing touchdowns.
Before playing in a league featuring Terrell Owens, Johnny Manziel, Martavis Bryant, and other former NFL players, the 26-year-old started his college career at the historically black university, Mississippi Valley State (NCAA D1 FCS), where he split time for two seasons (2015, 2016) throwing for 1,081 yards, eight touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He then transferred to Fort Valley State (NCAA, Div. II) where in his final three college football seasons (2017, 2018, 2019) he threw for 4,413 yards and 35 touchdowns.
