Swedish Superserien set to kick off June 12
The Swedish American Football Federation, SAFF, has announced that football can return again in Sweden on June 12, but on a highly truncated and early summer schedule.
The four teams – the Carlstad Crusaders, Stockholm Mean Machines, Uppsala 86ers and Örebro Black Knights – will play just one game against each opponent in a season which will last for one month.
SAFF made the announcement after moving all football-related activities from Phase 0 to Phase 2 in the Corona Protocol as from June 1. This allows teams to practice, games to be played and a limited number of spectators to attend the games. There is a caveat though. The schedule is subject to any changes that may be made to the COVID-19 restrictions on June 1.
The Carlstad Crusaders are the current defending champions.
