Swarco Raiders top Austrian Football League stats leaders after 3 weeks

After three weeks, some patterns are emerging in the Austrian Football League. One is that Swarco Raiders quarterback Sean Shelton is again among the passing leaders in the league and the other is that, like last year, quarterbacks lead the rushing category with Garrett Safron and Dylan Potts at one and two.

The Raiders have the most players in the top 5 in four categories with five. Then comes the surprising Traun Steelsharks with four, the Dacia Vienna Vikings with three as well as the Mödling Rangers who also have three. The Ljubljana Silverhawks are represented with two while the Bratislava Monarchs also have two. The Projekt Spielberg Graz Giants have one.

Passing

Swarco Raiders QB Sean Shelton has been on fire in his first three games throwing for 916 yards and 12 TDs, both league leading marks. Zach Cavanaugh of the Ljubljana Silverhawks trails by almost 200 yards while Vienna Vikings QB Garrett Safron is third with 663 yards and 11 TDs. John Uribe of the Traun Steelsharks has thrown for 586 yards and 5 TDs while Bratislava Monarchs QB David Vega is 5th with 510 yards and 5 TDs.

Receiving

Matic Tomse of the Ljubljana Silverhawks has started the 2018 season where he left off last year, leading the AFL in receiving yardage. He has 296 yards receiving and 5 TDs.  Vienna Vikings WR Bernhard Seikovits is 2nd with 288 yards and 5 TDs while Mario Winter from the Traun Steelsharks is 3rd with 273 yards. Swarco Raiders Daniel Saurer is the 4th leading receiver in Austria with 253 yards and  Mödling Rangers  WR Roman Namdar is 5th with 203.

Rushing

For the second year in a row, the leading rusher in Austria is a quarterback, in fact two. Garrett Safron of the Dacia Vienna Vikings has rushed for 388 yards in three games, scoring 5 TDs. right behind him with 369 yards rushing and 5 TDs as well is Mödling Rangers QB Dylan Potts, who led the league in 2017.  Traun Steelsharks RBs, Felix Stadler and Florian Nöhmayr are 3rd and 4th with 284 and 230 yards respectively while Sandro Platzgummer of the Swarco Raiders is 5th with 221 yards.

Tackles

Mödling Rangers LB Barron Miller leads all tacklers in the AFL with 20 tackles with Cameron Smith of the Bratislava Monarchs 2nd with 17. Following him in 3rd is Nicolas Melcher from the Swarco Raiders with 15 with Stefan Promitzer of the Graz Giants 4th with 13.5 and another Raider, Fabian Seeber 5th with 13
