The Ottawa REDBLACKS head to Montreal to face the Montreal Alouettes in the final preseason game for both teams in the Canadian Football League. Friday, June 3.
The Alouettes lost to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats a week ago in Hamilton 25-23 while last Saturday, in their first preseason game in over three years, the REDBLACKS overcame a fourth-quarter deficit to stun the Toronto Argonauts, by a final score of 23-17.
Alouettes starting quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. will return to the lineup for the first time since suffering a left shoulder injury last October against these same Redblacks. The 29-year-old rehabbed all offseason to be ready for this moment. He didn’t suit up in last Saturday’s game in Hamilton, but he will be the first quarterback on the field on Friday night.
In last week’s loss, veteran Trevor Harris looked sharp completing nine of 12 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown, while Davis Alexander threw for 106 yards and Dominique Davis completed 11 of 13 for 95 yards. Expect Adams to get at least a full half of playing time in this game though. Receiver Krishawn Hogan led all receivers with 11 catches for 102 yards and had only one drop. Reggie White Jr caught the lone touchdown pass hauling in three passes for 62 yards. Unfortunately, the Montreal ground game was almost nonexistent as five running backs had 12 carries for a total of 16 yards.
For Ottawa, Jeremiah Masoli ended the day 8/11 with 105 passing yards and a touchdown in his first appearance with Ottawa. Caleb Evans had 116 yards on 9/13 passing but also was picked off once. RJ Harris paced the REDBLACKS receivers, with 61 yards, followed by Ryan Davis (45), and Justin Hardy (39) while running back Jackson Bennett led Ottawa with 62 yards on the ground.
