With one week to go in Finland’s Maple League regular season, the leaders in the three key offensive categories make for interesting reading.
Of the six teams, the Wasa Royals and Kuopio Steelers have the most representatives on the stats leaders lists with four each while the Helsinki Roosters, Helsinki Wolverines and Porvoon Butchers each have two with the Seinäjoki Crocodiles having one player listed among the top five in the three categories.
Passing
Helsinki Roosters QB Miro Kadmiry has been on fire over the past two rounds of play in the Maple League and now leads the league with 1,143 yards passing and 14 TDs. Well behind in second spot is Seth Peters of the Kuopio Steelers with his 956 yards and also 14 TDs. Wolverines QB Chris Forcier has climbed into third with 681 yards while Brandon Gwinner of the Wasa Royals is a solid fourth with 656 yards. Porvoon Buthers QB Jabari Harris rounds out the Top 5 with 521 yards.
Rushing
Seinäjoki Crocodiles RB Christian Powell continues to pound out the yardage and following last weekend’s 109 yard game leads the rushing board with 638 yards, averaging 7.6 yards a carry. Butchers QB Jabari Harris proves his versatility and value to his team as the second leading rusher in the Maple League with 486 yards while elusive Lamar Carswell of the Kuopio Steelers has 470 yards, good for third. Another QB, Wasa Royals Brandon Gwinner is the fourth leading rusher with 375 yards while his teammate and RB Tom Suoste is fifth and has 342 yards.
Receiving
Sebastien Sagne of the Helsinki Wolverines keeps getting better and with his 403 yards receiving now leads the Maple League following a 162 yard performance last week against the Porvoon Butchers. Right behind him in 2nd is Wasa Royals WR Alpha Jalloh with 398 yards while Josh Vandeweerd of the Kuopio Steelers is 3rd with 318 yards. His teammate, Tino Ndongo is not far behind in fourth with 297 yards and Arttu Erkkila of the Helsinki Roosters now has 252 yards and 6 TDs, good for fifth.
