Spain: Valencia Firebats earn 2nd straight, 6 teams still unbeaten

The Valencia Firebats remain undefeated in Spain’s Group A after easily disposing of the L’Hospitalet Pioners 32-6 this weekend in Valencia, Spain.
Firebats quarterback Justin Sottilare threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Valencia jumped out to a 29-0 halftime lead with Sottilare throwing touchdown passes to Agustin Gaitan and Alejandro Silvestre while Nayim Mohamed recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown. Mohamed had opened the scoring for the Firebats.
The Pioners finally got on the scoreboard with a late touchdown pass from Khalid Ali to Victor Martin.
With the win, Valencia move to the top of the Group A standings followed by the Badalona Dracs.
In other Group A action, the Dracs opened their season with a 51-0 thrashing of the Mallorca Voltors with Sergi Gonzalo throwing five touchdown passes. In Group B, the Murcia Cobras had a tough game but edged the Coslada Camioneros 16-13 to also stay unbeaten at 2-0. The Valencia Giants blanked the Granada Lions 22-0 in their first game.

In Group C, Osos Rivas from Madrid earned their first win of the season beating Santurtzi Coyotes 26-0 while the surprising Las Rozas Black Demons also went to 2-0 after downing the Gijon Mariners 39-14.
After the first two weekends of play, six teams remain undefeated in the Spanish American Football League (Federeracion Espana de Futbol Americano). The league now takes a bye week and returns to action February 3/4 with five games.
