The defending Spanish champions, the Las Rozas Black Demons have re-signed Canadian quarterback Theo Landers for the 2024 season.
The 6’3″, 200 pound Landers from Burnaby (Vancouver), British Columbia, led the Black Demons to their first ever Spanish title in 2023 when they went undefeated in the regular season and then downed Osos Rivas 22-13 to win the Spanish Bowl. Landers threw two touchdown passes in the game to add to his league-leading total of 27 total touchdowns on the year. He threw for a total of 1,864 yards and 17 touchdowns in nine games while rushing for another 768 yards and 10 scores.
Landers spent the 2022 season with the Frankfurt Universe in the German Football League.
He arrived in Europe after spending five years playing for the University of Guelph Gryphons in the Canadian university league. From 2017-2019 he threw for 4,425 yards and 24 touchdowns while rushing for another 1,867 yards and 14 touchdowns. He led the Gryphons to the OUA (Ontario University Athletics) title game in 2018 and to the semifinals in 2019.
Landers is looking forward to another season with the Black Demons:
“I’m extremely excited to join the Laz Rozas Black Demons organization once again! The goal is the same as last year and that’s to win a championship. I’m extremely thankful for the opportunity and can’t wait to get the season started!”
