Spain: Black Demons sit atop power rankings with 3 games left in regular season

The Las Rozas Black Demons, reigning Spanish National League of Football champions, continue to dominate and remain unbeaten after the fifth weekend of play, earning them top spot in the AFI rankings.

The Black Demons will likely hold onto to that #1 spot through to the end of the regular season given their remaining schedule. Their arch rivals, Osos Rivas,  are right behind with a 3-2 record with both losses coming at the hands of Las Rozas. The Badalona Dracs have a better record but suffered their only loss at the hands of the lowly Mallorca Voltors which keeps them in third.

Let’s take a look at the rankings with three games left.

1. Las Rozas Black Demons – 5-0

With three regular season games left, the Black Demons will likely remain the #1 ranked team in the LNFA through to the playoffs. With Theo Landers performing at his usual high level, they again are dominating the West conference.

2. Osos Rivas – 3-2

Finalists for the past two seasons, Osos Rivas have looked impressive except for the two losses to the Black Demons, although the games were close. They should

3. Badalona Dracs – 4-1

The Dracs have been run through their opponents in the East conference with one exception, the Mallorca Voltors. The loss to Mallorca has kept them in third.

4. Terrassa Reds – 3-1-1

Newcomers to the LNFA this season, the Reds have outperformed expectations. However, the inexplicable tie with the Pagesos raises questions. Still, they definitely belong among the top 4.

5. Coslada Camioneros – 3-2

Coslada’s two losses have come at the hands of the Black Demons and Osos Rivas and both have been lopsided which keeps them in 5th. They have otherwise handled the other teams in the West conference with relative ease.

6. Barcelona Pagesos – 1-3-1

The Pagesos have undergone some improvement over last year’s winless season as evidenced by the victory over Mallorca and impressive tie against Terrassa. They are in a well-deserved 6th place.

7. L’Hospitalet Pioners – 2-3

Two of the Pioners three losses were to the Dracs and they were both lopsided which has pushed them down the rankings. They have given up more points than any other team in the East division.

8. Mallorca Voltors – 1-3

Mallorca has struggled this season so far but oddly their lone win came against the Dracs – a solid 24-22 victory – which puts them ahead of the two lowest ranked teams in the West division.

9. Gijon Mariners – 1-4

Gijon has had a tough season so far with their only victory coming against the winless Zaragoza Hurricanes.

10. Zaragoza Hurricanes – 0-4

The Zaragoza Hurricanes switched conferences this season but to no avail. They had a decent 4-4 record in 2023 but this year they have only been close in one game, a 13-7 loss to the Mariners.
