Silas Nacita has monster day in Firenze Guelfi opening win

There is no question that Silas Nacita has proven every year since arriving in Europe three years ago, just how versatile he is.

Last year, Nacita had a spectacular season with the Marburg Mercenaries in the German Football League . He led the league in all-purpose yards averaging 192.6 per game. He rushed for 808 yards and 10 TDs, passed for 811 yards and 12 TDs, caught 65 passes for 1,005 yards and 15 TDs, returned 10 punts for 140 yards and a TD, returned 28 kickoffs for 743 yards and punted 44 times for 682 yards (38.2 yard average).

In one game in Italy this past weekend, he put his entire range on display when his Firenze Guelfi overcame a 17-0 second quarter deficit and went on to beat the Parma Panthers 27-17.

In that game, Nacita caught eight passes for 121 yards and one touchdown, rushed for 77 yards, returned three punts for 62 yards, snagged two interceptions, returning one for a pick six while also making three tackles. He had 292 All Purpose yards.

In other words, a one-man wrecking crew.

Nacita was excited leading up to the game, his first in Europe outside of Germany.

“I was just excited to see how we were going to perform as a team and even more excited to see coach Briles on the sideline again.”

Although they trailed early on, Nacita was confident:

“We fell behind quick, but I was never worried about losing. I don’t know why, but I knew we’d come back. I also realized that I would be playing more defense this year than I did in Germany.”

When asked about the differences in the game between the two countries, Nacita took his time to answer:

“It’s tough to say what the level difference between Germany and Italy after only one game, but the import rule is definitely the biggest game changer. From an offensive perspective, competing against 1-2 Americans on the field is much easier than 4-8.”
