Serbia: Kragujevac Wild Boars dominate SBB Vukovi Belgrade; stay unbeaten
The defending champion Kragujevac Wild Boars improved their record to 3-0 in the Serbian American Football League with a convincing 48-20 win over arch rivals the SBB Vukovi Belgrade Easter Sunday at Čika Dača Stadium in Kragujevac.
Kragujevac quarterback, Jake Sisson, capped another excellent game with five touchdown passes, three to Stefan Borkovic, and one each to Filip Nedeljkovic and Mihail Novakovic. Running back Nick LaSane rushed for another two touchdowns. Petar Goić kicked six extra points.
For Vukovi, quarterback Levi Plant threw two touchdown passes to Nikolic Simovic while running back Joe Bergeron scored the other.
The Wild Boars took charge from the opening whistle jumping out to a 13-0 lead on two of Borkovic’s three touchdowns but Vukovi answered late in the first quarter as Plant found Simovic and scored the two-point conversion narrowing the lead to 13-8.
Kragujevac then went on a rampage scoring three unanswered touchdowns in the second quarter. LaSane finished off two drives with a three and one yard plunges to extend the lead to 27-8 and then Sisson connected with Nedeljkovic to give the Wild Boars an almost insurmountable 34-8 lead at the break.
Bergeron found a gap and raced 52 yards for a touchdown to pull Vukovi closer, 34-14. But Sisson responded on the next series, finding Novakovic from 23 yards out to boost the lead to 41-14.
Sisson finished off the scoring for Kragujevac in the fourth, finding Borkovic for his third touchdown and the lead increased to 48-14. Simovic scored for Vukovi late in the fourth quarter to make the score a more respectable 48-14.
With the win, the Wild Boars remain the only unbeaten team in Serbia. Next action for Kragujevac will be against the Indija Indians on May 5. Vukovi will also not play again until May 5 when they take on the Novi Sad Wild Dogs.
