The Seinäjoki Crocodiles continue to prepare for the Maple League season in Finland with the signing of British WR Tim Thomas.
This is Thomas’ second stint with the Crocodiles. He spent the 2015 and 2016 season with the team amassing 1,800 yards in receptions and 24 touchdowns.
The Crocodiles open the shortened season in Finland on July 30 when they face the Helsinki Wolverines in Helsinki.
Thomas, 6’2″, 190 lb, who was born in South Africa but raised in Wales, spent the 2019 season with the London Warriors, helping the team win its sixth British title. In 2018, as a member of the Frankfurt Universe in the German Football League, Thomas led the team with 1,368 yards receiving and 13 touchdowns, good for second overall in the league. Frankfurt reached the German Bowl losing in a tight game to the Schwabisch Hall Unicorns 21-19. Thomas led all receivers in that game with 10 catches for 86 yards and a touchdown. He spent the 2017 season with Finland’s Helsinki Roosters, helping them win their sixth straight Finnish championship. He was the fourth leading receiver in Finland’s Maple League with 48 catches for 617 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Thomas started playing football in Wales when he was 14 and quickly developed. At 18, he was playing for the South Wales Warriors where he stayed until 2014. He then transferred to the Bristol Aztecs in the British National League. With 50 touchdowns Thomas proved himself to be one of the best players in Great Britain and was spotted by several European teams. Thomas also played for London’s Kingston University in the British University league.
Thomas is excited to be back on the field playing football this year:
“My experience with the Crocs has been amazing and I love the team and the back office. They have allowed me to bring my fiancé so I can show her the beauty of Finland. Also being able to work my day job from Finland is a boon as I can work from anywhere in the world.”
