The Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns, winners of two of the last three German Football League titles, and finalists this past season, will kick off the 2020 season with a game to remember when they play host to Finnish 22 time champions, the Helsinki Roosters on April 25 at Optima Sportpark in Schwäbisch Hall.
The Roosters last played a game outside the Nordic region a year ago when they defeated the Dacia Vienna Vikings 41-37 in a barn burner.
Schwäbisch Hall has not played an international game since 2016 when they lost to Austria’s Swarco Raiders 34-0.
Helsinki celebrated their 40th anniversary this year with an impeccable record boasting 22 titles over the course of those 40 years including the last eight in a row.
Unicorns head coach Jordan Neuman is a good friend of Helsinki’s coach Juha Hakala and the two have tried for years to set this up.
” “This will be a great experience for our players and an international football festival for our fans. Helsinki is one of the top teams in Europe. For me, this game is like a non-conference game in college football that will affect the European ranking. I’m sure the Roosters will take the game very seriously as well. “
