SBB Vukvovi Belgrade Face Kragujevac Wild Boars In Serbian Bowl XII
SBB Vukovi Belgrade will face the Kragujevac Wild Boars Sunday to decide the 2016 Serbian championship in Serbian Bowl XII. These two teams have combined to win nine of the last 12 championships in Serbia. They are playing against each other for the ninth time in the finals.
Belgrade has won the trophy six times (2005, 2007, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014), while the Wild Boars prevailed in 2004, 2006 and 2008.
The Wild Boars have beaten SBB Vukovi in the Serbian final was 2004, 2006, and 2008. In their last championship meeting Belgrade beat Kragujevac 27-17 in Serbian Bowl X in 2014.
SBB Vukovi enter this game undefeated in Serbia this season with a 7-0 record. The Wild Boars are 6-1 in regular season play their only loss coming at the hands Belgrade, a 42-28 defeat which saw Vukovi explode for four second quarter touchdowns.
Vukovi quarterback John Uribe was named top quarterback in Serbia while his teammate Mihailo Josović earned the honor as the best running back in the country.
Nevertheless Kragujevac quarterback Jammie Blunt has also had an outstanding year and in the semifinal against the Novi Sad Dukes he threw for four touchdowns in a 33-13 win. His favorite target, Gabriel Chambers caught two of those.
The Wild Boars Stefan Djuric was named best tight end in 2016 and Milorad Novakovic earned the top defensive lineman award.
This has been a turnaround year for both clubs. Kragujevac suffered through a sub .500 season in 2015 while SBB Vukovi were surprised in the 2015 final by the Novi Sad Dukes and came away empty handed in both Serbia and in IFAF Europe Champions League play.
Voted head coach of the year in Serbia was SBB Vukovi head coach Sean Embree.
