Serbia’s SBB Vukovi Belgrade sign Malik Jackson as new HC
Six-time Serbian champions, SBB Vukovi Belgrade, have signed championship winning coach Malik Jackson as their new head coach for the 2018 season.
The head coach of the 2015 Carlstad Crusaders who won both the Swedish league title and the European Champions League crown that season, is a familiar face in Serbia having served as defensive coordinator for Vukovi in 2016 as well as the Serbian national team. In 2017, Jackson was the defensive coordinator for the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes in the German Football League, helping the team reach the German semifinals with one of the top five defenses in the country.
The 45-year-old Jackson originally came to Europe from De Anza College in California where he served as defensive coordinator. His background includes a successful career at City College of San Francisco where as defensive secondary and special teams coach he helped the team win the junior college national championship four times since 2001.
On returning to Serbia, this time, on the head coach of Vukovi, Jackson was understandably pleased:
“My stay in Vukovi in the second half of the 2016 season and the help I provided to the national team made it easier for me to make a decision to come back here because I know that I will be surrounded by really great guys. I have always had a lot of respect for the way this team competes, and I appreciate the fact that there is an established culture of winning. Whenever you join a program that already has a high standard and expectations to win the championship, you are quite happy as a coach.”
