Saints’ Coach Dennis Allen Was Fired After the 7th Loss in a Row

It is no secret that the New Orleans Saints can’t be called the best team to wager money on a trusted sports betting site because of their recent losses. No wonder the latest team announcement says that Dennis Allen, the Saints head coach, was fired after his team lost the 7th game in a row on Sunday.

The interim coaching role has been assigned to Darren Rizzi, the Saints’ special team coordinator and Allen’s close friend. According to Rizzi, it was a tough day because of the situation he had to go through, but he doesn’t plan to give up and will continue fighting. He intends to reevaluate previous losses and take action to improve the situation.

On Monday, Rizzy confirmed the fact that Joe Woods would be responsible for defence, and Derek Carr would continue to hold the role of a starting quarterback. The main goal of the team is to win an upcoming match against the Atlanta Falcons.

Taking a look at the start of the season, it’s worth mentioning that the Saints managed to win 2 games, but all the next matches were a complete disappointment for them. The latest loss to the Carolina Panthers was announced as a ticket home by Tyrann Mathieu, and the next morning, Allen was fired.

According to Rizzi, he expects his team to enter a passionate fight in the remaining 8 games of this season. It is their duty to let fans and team members experience the taste of winning and return luck.

Dennis Allen has been part of the Saints organization for years and was highly respected within the NFL. Saints owner Gayle Benson admitted that firing him was a tough decision. At the same time, she wished only the best for his family and considered him in high regard for his efforts and work.

The Saints’ history hasn’t had many mis-season firings. The only coach changes took place in 1980 when Dick Nolan was replaced and in 1996 with the resignation of Jim Mora. Allen replaced Sean Payton in 2022 and went 18-25 as the head coach of the team.

It was the first time since 1999 that the team had lost 7 games in a row. In the previous situation, both coach Mike Ditka and general manager Bill Kuharich were fired as well.

Allen issued a statement on Monday in which he expressed his gratitude to the team’s owner, general manager, players, and fans. He admitted that this organization would remain dear to his heart and wished the best to the whole team.

Allen’s story as the Saints’ coach wasn’t long. He worked with the majority of the staff hired by Payton, though he has made several key decisions, including hiring new coaches by the 3rd season and signing Carr in 2023.

Before his time with the Saints, he was the head coach of the Raiders, where he recorded an 8-28 record. In 2014, he was fired after an unsuccessful start to the third season.

One of those who defended Allen early on was Loomis, who suggested looking beyond the match results, noting that many players of the Saints were injured this season, and it could have been one of the reasons for the team’s challenges. He called Allen a great football coach who never made excuses and fought for his organization hard.

Not only did Loomis express his frustration with the situation, but players were also disappointed by this decision. Foster Moreau said that they spent an awesome season before a game with the Panthers, but unfortunately, it didn’t bring about the desired results. Moreau expressed that Allen did everything he could to make his team succeed, but it didn’t lead to the winnings. He also confessed that he respected this coach and appreciated his work, but he believed they were going in a different direction and required changes.
