Saarland Hurricanes lose QB in Germany’s win over USA
Saarland Hurricanes quarterback Alexander Haupert celebrated a big win for Germany last weekend, beating the US Federation of American Football team 14-13, but ended his season in the same game.
According to the diagnosis, Haupert tore his ACL ( anterior cruciate ligament) in the first half of the game against the US squad and is now out for the year. He also suffered a strained MCL, and a partially torn meniscus. He will undergo surgery next week. Haupert had only just returned for a pulled hamstring.
In his four games starting at quarterback for Saarland this season, he has thrown for 537 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 282 yards and another two touchdowns.
The 2-7 Hurricanes will enter their German Football League South matchup Saturday, July 29 against the Ingoldstadt Dukes with veteran Marcus Richardson filling in at quarterback.
