Rose-Hulman whips Landsberg X-Press in Global Football exhibition match
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology’s Fightin’ Engineers beat the Landsberg X-Press 82-0 in Germany.
Rose-Hulman faced the X-Press on a perfect hot summer’s day and led 21-0 at the end of the first quarter. Tyler Brutofsky returned a punt return 51 yards to open a seven-point lead, which was added to by Garrett Wright rushing touchdowns of 11 and 4 yards, with, Jae Murray adding all three extra points.
Luke Kopecky reeled in a 1-yard receiving touchdown, Eric Morris scored on 24-yard run after a John Kirby interception, then to seal a 40-0 halftime lead, Austin Swenson went in from 16 yards out and threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Zach Murphy, with Andrew Peck splitting the uprights three times from four attempts.
The Fightin’ Engineers scored once in the third quarter on an 18-yard pass from Chris Johannigman to Garrett Wight that was converted by Murray’s PAT. Four fourth quarter touchdowns and another Kirby interception completed the win.
Eric Morris threw an 18-yard scoring pass to Michael Balistreri and hit Nathaniel Stewart for a 48-yard touchdown connection. Nigel Hensley raced back an interception return 28 yards and Nathan Cantwell recovered a fumble to score, with Peck tagging on three extra points.
Rose-Hulman has traveled with Global Football on three occasions to England and France 2002, Italy 2008, and the Czech Republic and Austria 2011. Between May 29 and June 6, their visit to Europe has included a Jungfrau Valley hike and Lutschine River activity, Neuschwanstein Castle, and Munich and Vienna sightseeing.
