RoBowl VI, Romania’s Championship is Country’s First Televised American Football Game
RoBowl VI, the final game in the Romanian American Football National Championship (Campionatul National de Fotbal American – CNFA) 2015 will be played in Cluj-Napoca, the 2015 European Youth Capital, in Cluj Arena, one of the biggest stadiums in Romania, an UEFA Elite Stadium (Category 4).
This will be the first televised Romanian American football game in history and it can be watched on TVR 3 and TVR Cluj in Romania and on TVR+ all around the world.
The game will start at 5:00 pm local time (10 AM EDT), this Sunday, June 14th, 2015.
RoBowl VI will bring the Bucharest Rebels and Cluj Crusaders face to face. The two teams have secured their spots in the championship final by finishing first in their respective conferences and then easily winning their semi-final games.
Thus far, the Cluj Crusaders have had a perfect season, managing to win in all six of their matches. In the regular season they defeated Timişoara 89ers and Resita Locomotives twice and they also prevailed in the inter-conference stage in which they played the Mures Monsters. In the semifinals they met Bucharest Warriors and managed to win comfortably 42-14.
The Bucharest Rebels have had a near perfect season, the only misstep was against the Bucharest Warriors, which ended in a 12-12 draw. Outside of that game, the Rebels have won the rest of their games beating the Mures Monsters twice, and the Bucharest Warriors once while also defeating the Timisoara 89ers in the inter-conference stage. In the semifinals, they faced the 89ers, defeating them by the same score as they had in the regular season, 46-0.
The Cluj Crusaders and Bucharest Rebels have met four times previously, with victories divided equally (2-2) for each team. Two of those games were in RoBowl III, which was a double round robin tournament. The Crusaders prevailed in that RoBowl, losing the first game 26-16 but winning the second one, played in Bucharest, by a score 20-7.
This Sunday evening we will find out if the Cluj Crusaders can become the first team with 3 titles in Romania or if Bucharest Rebels can earn their second one, becoming the 3rd team in the country with two consecutive league titles.
Tune in for a great game!
