This Sunday, May 24th, Porto Alegre Pumpkins will host the Juventude FA in the Gaúcho Bowl VII.
This match is scheduled for 2p ET, at Sports Complex of PUCRS, in Porto Alegre.
The Pumpkins go in search for their fifth Gaúcho Championship, while the Juventude will try for the first time in its history. The teams have met previously in a friendly match in December 2014, in Canoas, with the Pumpkins winning by 19-13.
In the semifinals, the Pumpkins won the spot in the final by beating rival São José Bulls 20 to 7, while Juventude defeated Santa Cruz Chacais in overtime 24 to 17.
For this showdown, the Pumpkins have in their favor the local factor with the support of the home crowd. Also they have had some good physical preparation developed by new physical coordinator Patrick Borges. The president and offensive tackle of Porto Alegre team, Anderson Fauri, explains the team’s performance.
“We hired a physical trainer who gave us a great result and this is a huge difference for us.”
On the green side, the team will rely on the quarterback Tim Lukas and wide receiver Ricardo Miller, who came from the United States. Both players played in the NCAA Division 1. Lukas studied at the University of Illinois (Fighting Illini), while Miller studied at the University of Michigan (Wolverines).
