PREVIEW: Botafogo Challengers v. Santos Tsunami & Jaraguá Breakers v. UFPR Brown Spiders in the Brazil’s Torneio Touchdown Week 2
This weekend two matches will take place in Brazil’s top American football league, the Torneio Touchdown (TTD) Week 2.
On Saturday, Botafogo Challengers face the Santos Tsunami, the duel is scheduled at 1p ET, at the CT Santa Iria, in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo. On Sunday, the Jaraguá Breakers confront UFPR Brown Spiders, at 1p ET, at the Massaranduba Municipal Stadium in Massaranduba, Santa Catarina.
With the elimination in the semifinals of the Copa São Paulo (aka Paulista Championship) to Campo Grande Gravediggers, the Challengers will not participate in the final match of the Paulista Championship. Thus, the cast of Ribeirão Preto only will only battle in the TTD in the second half of tis year. The head coach Francisco Araujo expects improvement from his team.

The Tsunami have not participated in any competition this spring. The team of São Paulo coast played two friendlies during the preseason, and emerged victorious in both. The Santos will have as a weapon the entrance of American running back Jocques Crawford – a native of Memphis, Tennessee, the player played for University of Kansas and Tennessee Technological University.
In the second match of the weekend, the Breakers come with full strength to seek their second championship title of the TTD. The team from Santa Catarina team have brought in good reinforcements with Adam Araújo, Bruno “Sapo” Rosa, the American Bryce Wilson. They’ve also partnered with the Criciúma Miners to borrow the players Mateus Brignoli, Allisom Silva, Victor Bonfante and Gabriel Benincá.
After finishing in fourth place of the Paraná Championship, the UFPR Brown Spiders will try to repeat the feat of its State brother Paraná HP, who faced the Breakers in Jaraguá last season and emerged victorious. In the off-season the Brown Spiders merged with the Legends and now have a stronger roster.
