The two-time and defending Polish champion Wroclaw Panthers have signed ex Jacksonville Jaguar safety Desmond Cooper for the 2018 season.
The 6’2″, 216 lb 25 year old Cooper who played at both Wake Forest and UNC Charlotte was outstanding for Denmark’s Søllerød Gold Diggers in 2017, helping them reach the Danish final.
He attended the Jacksonville Jaguars training camp and was the first ever graduate of UNC Charlotte to sign with an NFL team.
The Panthers are back-to-back winners of the Polish championship and will also compete in the Central European Football League in 2018.
Cooper explained his reason for signing with Wroclaw:
“Why did I decide to play in Wroclaw? I wanted to hit the club where I can fight for the highest goals. I have never been to Poland and I believe that it will be a great adventure. I will do my best to show Panthers fans the style of the game they will love.”
The talented defensive back will be called upon to play multiple positions including safety, corner and even linebacker. While at UNC Charlotte he was among the team’s leading tacklers recording a total of 89 over two seasons.
