The Warsaw Eagles of the Polish Football League have re-signed former league MVP Jake Schimenz for the 2025 season.
Schimenz helped the Eagles capture the 2024 PFL crown after leading the league in passing yardage with 2,194 yards and passing touchdowns with 30. He also rushed for 251 yards and three scores.
In 2023 he was the second leading passer in the GFL2 in Germany playing for the Lubeck Cougars after throwing for 2,973 yards and 27 touchdowns.
In 2022, he spent time with the Mures Monsters in Romania, the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes in the GFL and Krakow Kings in the PFL who he led to the title game. The year before, he led the Bydgoszcz Archers to their first title. The 5’10″, 180-pound dual-threat passer guided the Archers to a perfect 10-0 championship season that year. Schimenz put up a league-leading 25 total touchdowns showing the ability to score on the ground and through the air. Following the season in Poland, Schimenz joined the Allgäu Comets of the German Football League for their final five games, helping them reach the post-season. Schimenz threw for 623 yards and seven touchdowns while adding three more scores on the ground.
The Brown Deer, Wisconsin native arrived in southern Germany after three seasons with three different international teams. Schimenz’s 2021 Polish League season was preceded by two other decorated seasons with the Recife Mariners and Limeira Mariners of Brazil. Overall, in his two seasons in Brazil, Schimenz won two MVP awards and put up 84 total touchdowns.
Schimenz is a former baseball player at Sterling College in Kansas, who was pushed to return to football after playing intramurals with classmates. As a high school quarterback in Wisconsin, he totaled 12 touchdowns his junior year before injuries steered him towards focusing on baseball.
