Poland: Gdynia Seahawks sign former Auburn star Jason Smith as new QB
The Gdynia Seahawks have signed former University of Auburn (NCAA Div. I FCS) for the remainder of the 2019 season.
The 6’1″, 190 lb native of Mobile, Alabama spent four years with the Auburn Tigers, playing in 31 games at both wide receiver and defensive back in his senior year. In 2016 he was named to the 2016 Fall SEC Honor Roll. In 2014, his senior year with the MGCCC Bulldogs junior college team, he led them to an 8-2 record and No. 7 national ranking, throwing for 1,566 yards and 18 TDs while also rushing for 10 TDs. He attended Saskatchewan Roughriders minicamp in 2019.
Seahawks head coach, Mele J. Mosqueda:
“When you’re talking about bringing a quarterback at this juncture in the season, you want someone with a similar skill set to fit the system and players you have. I made the decision because of Jason’s style of play and the Offense I want to go forth with.”
