The Gdynia Seahawks have added one of the best defenders in Europe in signing linebacker Barron Miller (North Alabama, NCAA, Div. II) for the 2019 season.
Miller was a standout middle linebacker for the University of North Alabama Lions in his career there. He helped the Lions reach the NCAA Div. II national final in 2016 where they lost to Northwest Missouri State.
The Seahawks, Polish champions in 2014 and 2015, and finalists in 2016 and 2017, are looking to rebound from a mediocre campaign in 2018.
Daniel Piechnik, defensive coordinator for the Seahawks:
“Barron Miller was the best defensive player in the Austrian league in the 2018 season. We noticed him in the spring of last year. After our first telephone conversation, I was sure that he was the competitor we were looking for – intelligent, hardworking, modest and extremely talented. In fact, when he expressed interest in signing a contract with us, we stopped looking for anyone else. Certainly Barron will become the heart of our defensive and the energy it brings will make players who will have the opportunity to train and play with him, become better players. “-
Miller:
“I come from Copiah County Mississippi, which is a small town of 4,000 inhabitants and there are not many things to do. I love playing football and I want to show young footballers that thanks to this they can travel all over the world, and playing in an organization like Seahawks is a great opportunity. I would like to win the championship with the team and give fans a great show every game. I also want to get to know the team and the city to tell kids about my environment and inspire them. “
