Paris Musketeers sign French defensive end Giovanni Nanguy

The Paris Musketeers have added European League of Football (ELF) veteran and edge rusher Giovanni Nanguy to their roster for the 2023 season.

Nanguy has spent the last two seasons with the Hamburg Sea Devils in the ELF. Nanguy only appeared in one game in 2021 but exploded onto the scene during the team’s 2022 championship run. In 2022, Nanguy amassed 25 tackles, six sacks, three forced fumbles, four pass breakups and a defensive touchdown.

Prior to his time in the ELF, Nanguy has had an extensive career playing in both the German Football League, for the Elmshorn Fighting Pirates and the Lübeck Cougars, and the French domestic league, for the Les Aigles Rouges, Aix-en-Provence Argonautes Spartiates d’Amiens and Léopards de Rouen

The 6 ‘3, 230 pound edge rusher will now be returning home to Paris and teaming up with head coach Marc Mattioli who had this to say on Nanguy’s signing:

‘I am very excited to welcome Giovanni to our team. Giovanni has been a difference maker in this league for the last two years and is a great addition to our defensive front. He is a defensive end that can play in all situations because he is effective against the run as well as rushing the passer. He also has a wealth of experience, which allows him to have a great feel for what opposing offenses are trying to do. He is a mature guy off the field who has good leadership skills. I have really enjoyed getting to know Giovanni over the last few months. I am very pleased to have him on our team.’
