Oslo Vikings Return To Top In Norway Winning Championship For 10th Time
The Oslo Vikings returned to the top of the Norwegian league Sunday beating the Eidsvoll 1814s 14-7 in a thriller to win the Norwegian title for the first time since 2012 and 10th time in their history.
Quarterback Dustin Hawke Willingham scored both touchdowns for the Vikings and kept Eidsvoll off balance the entire game with his legs.
In a physical defensive battle, Oslo went up 6-0 at the break and added another touchdown in the fourth quarter to lead 14-0 heading into the final stages of the game..
Eidsvoll moved Riley Bowen to running back and switched running back Arne August Skovseth Søgaard to wide receiver and the move seemed to make a difference. On a drive midway through the fourth quarter Bowen took the ball in to reduce the score to 14-7.
Then, the 1814s got the stop they wanted but the offense turned the ball over on a fumble and a last second interception to give the Vikings the title.
This was the third consecutive trip to the finals for Eidsvoll without a win.
The three stars of the game were Oslo quarterback Dustin Hawke Willingham, Eidsvoll running back Arne August Skovseth Søgaard and Oslo defensive back Jacob Galsgaard.
