The Örebro Black Knights have added Irish offensive lineman Sam Potter for the 2024 Swedish Superserien season.
The 6’1″, 260 pound native of Belfast, Northern Ireland plays center for the University of Nottingham in the British college league who are currently unbeaten with a record of 5-0. At 19, he is still relatively new to the game having started with the Belfast Knights in the Irish top league.
”I started playing back in 2019 with the Belfast knights after I saw an Ad on Facebook for the Belfast knights recruiting an U19 team. I had a friend on the team at the time so he introduced me and I instantly fell in love with the sport. I have chosen to sign with the Black Knights as it is clearly the best step for me to get better as a player as I’m able to learn from some of the best players and coaches in Europe. But also I want to be apart of a team that is competitive and hungry to win and I feel the Black Knights ticks all the boxes.”
Head coach Sam Eisenstadt is impressed with his new recruit:
”Sam is a young and talented player out of the UK. While I was recruiting him I could feel the love and passion he has for the game. He will do a great job providing talent for us on the OL and help add to the great team environment we are building here. I am looking forward to having Sam on our team in 2024.”
The talented young offensive lineman progressed quickly and is now also an anchor on the Irish national team, the Irish Wolfhounds as well as Ireland’s U19 national team.
