There were no surprises in the Spanish American Football League’s seventh round of play this past weekend as the favorites prevailed and the Badalona Dracs remained unbeaten.
Badalona Dracs (7-0) 54 – Mallorca Voltors (3-4) 6
Badalona quarterback Hunter Correll tossed four touchdown passes with Edu Morlans catching one and also carrying one in himself. Jorge Ruiz scored on a spectacular kickoff returned while kicking two field goals and six extra points. Mallorca’s only touchdown came on a pass from Craig Coffman to wide receiver Christopher Green.
Coslada Camioneros (6-1) 36 – Gijon Mariners (2-5) 0
Coslada’s Mexican quarterback, Armando Morales threw three touchdown passes and ran one in himself in the Camioneros shut out of Gijon. Jorge Torrero, Alberto Egea and José Miguel Bayod were the recipients of the three touchdown while Jorge Felix Velasco returned a fumble for a touchdown.
LG OLED Las Rozas Black Demons (6-1) 58 – Granada Lions (0-7) 0
Wide receiver Evan Altizer hauled in four touchdown passes for the Black Demons and teammate Marco de la Mata caught two more as well as Granada was no match for the playoff-bound Las Rozas.
Osos Rivas (6-1) 40 – Santiago Black Ravens (0-7) 2
Osos running back Rafael Pimentel rushed for three touchdowns while quarterback Ryan Deal threw a touchdown pass to Kevin Wiggins while carrying one in himself.
Murcia Cobras (5-2) 26 – Fuengirola Potros (2-5) 8
Murcia quarterback Adam Saalvadori threw touchdown passes to Alex Holmes and Pablo Serrano while scoring two more on his own in securing the Cobras fifth win of the year. Murcia raced out to a 19-0 lead but Potros quarterback Carlos Chaves scored to cut the lead to 19-6. Salvadori then found Serrano to increase the lead to 26-6 but Fuengirola’s defense rose up, forcing a safety late in the game making the final 26-8.
Valencia Firebats (4-3) 27 – Zaragoza Hurricanes (1-6) 7
The Firebats maintained their sixth place in the 12 team league with a convincing 27-7 victory over Zaragoza. Sergio Leon scored two touchdowns for the Firebats while Vicent Latorre and Alejandro Silvestre had one each for Valencia who only led 13-0 at the half. The Hurricanes sole touchdown was scored by Mexican Alcides Benítez.
