Ever wondered who’s the fastest player in the NFL? Wonder no more. Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Devon Allen is convinced he’s the guy for the job.
The 28-year-old has every reason to make such a boast; he is, after all, a two-time Olympian, having reached the finals of both the 2016 and 2020 110-meter hurdles. Indeed, his time of 12.84 in 2022 is currently the third-fastest time in history.
In April 2022, Devon signed a three-year deal with the Eagles and will hope to make an impact on the Lincoln Financial Field team in the coming season.

Devon Allen was quizzed as to his opinion on who’s the fastest in the NFL and responded in an emphatic style;
“I definitely am [the fastest],”
Allen then went on to praise others who were in the conversation in terms of being NFL speed kings, stating;
“I’m not gonna roast those guys because what they did was impressive,”
“I raced Tyreek Hill when I was in high school. We raced and he smoked me when we were in high school and DK Metcalf ran a 10.3 a couple years ago is super impressive for a guy that’s 6’4″, 6’3″, 225. But I think especially at the top level, top 5, top 10 in the world, there’s a big gap in terms of just performance.”
Allen is still waiting to make his NFL bow, having made their practice squad in 2022, and clearly, the Eagles believe he has what it takes, hence the three-year deal they gave the player.
On his ongoing progression in the NFL, Allen explained the differences between college ball and the National Football League;
“The first whirlwind for me was training camp, getting thrown into the fire, and realizing this isn’t college anymore,”
“I played at the University of Oregon, which is high-level ball, but the NFL takes it to another level.”
Allen impressed at the USATF New York City Grand Prix last month, finishing second to Daniel Robert;
“It’s going well,” Allen stated
“Balancing both is difficult, but I’m having a lot of fun as long as I can stay healthy. Get to compete against these guys in high-quality competition. 13.01 and 13.04 is nothing to scoff at. So, we’re ready to go.” Allen concluded.
Last season proved to be a big success for the Eagles, with their 14 regular season wins being a franchise record and secured them the NFC East and first place in the Conference and they then blew away the New York Giants 38-7 in the divisional playoffs before seeing off the San Francisco 49ers to win the NFC Championship.
However, they could not overcome the Chiefs in what proved a thrilling Super Bowl in Glendale, Arizona, where Kansas ran out 38-35 winners.
